2015-2016 Season is Upon Us

Alabama Takedown Academy & Tiger Youth Wrestling Organization (TYWO) is a private club of k-8th grade students. The mission of Tiger Youth Wrestling is to train our youth to be the best wrestlers they can be. We do this through hard work and self discipline. Our aim is to expose kids (and parents) to the sport of wrestling in a fashion that allows them to continue to participate in other sports throughout the year. Our wish is to educate the general public not only as to what Youth Wrestling is, but also to what it does for young athletes.

The discipline, self confidence and work ethic developed in the few short months of wrestling will carry not just into the next sport season, but into your young man's life. Many of the local High School wrestlers, including several state champions, came up through TYWO.

TYWO partnered with the Alabama Takedown Academy several years back in order to expand our season and age group reach. ATA benifits by having access to TYWO's assets. TYWO benifits by offering more opportunities to our wrestlers than ever before.

TYWO/ATA participates in two wrestling organizations; USA Wrestling - Alabama, and The Southern Youth Wrestling Organization (SYWO).

USA Wrestling is the olympic development program for wrestling in the United States. The USAW season runs from mid November through the first week of February. Funds raised through participation in USAW events directly support our national wrestlers at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

The SYWO is a cooperative of clubs from North Alabama, Tennnesse, and Northwest Georgia. It was established over 25 years ago as an alternative for the North alabama clubs to the (now extinct) Future Champions organization. The SYWO season runs from the middle of February (the weekend after the Alabama High School State Championships) up to spring break.

The tournaments your child will attend will expose him to some of the best youth wrestling in Alabama and the surrounding states.

Should your child decide to pursue wrestling throughout the year, there are ample opportunities in Huntsville and in the surrounding communities to do so. Otherwise, if you are looking for a sport to accentuate other youth sports, there is none better than YOUTH WRESTLING! After a short break from Football, the seasons start and finish at SPRING BREAK with plenty of time for baseball season. Still not convinced!
